Growing up, I loved reading stories from author Dr. Seuss such as, The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Amidst several other notable titles, there is one that will forever remain ingrained in my mind. Oh the Places You’ll Go! was read to me my first and last day of 6th grade by my amazing teacher, Ms. Haun. Although I don’t remember all the words of the book, the feelings she impressed upon me will forever remain. I left my last day of 6th grade determined to make my future amazing and to do the things I dreamed. However, like many before me, I fell victim to the standard of living society has set and began to believe that some dreams just aren’t possible for the “normal” folk. I’m thankful to report that I no longer believe this deceiving myth. Today, I know that I will accomplish all these dreams and more in my life and it’s all because of my experiences selling door-to-door.
I’m convinced the hardest things in life deliver the greatest sense of achievement. When you have to endure pain, conflict, and struggle to taste the satisfaction of victory, you appreciate it deeper. This is exactly what door-to-door (D2D) sales has been for me. Waking up every day to go out and knock doors all day in hopes of selling something to a stranger is not an enticing thought. To convince myself to take on this job, I had to remind myself of the promised financial reward awaiting me. However, something amazing happened! Although the financial gain has been incredible, I have acquired something more valuable and intrinsic than the cash deposited in my account. That is, I now have proven to myself that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to. Because how challenging D2D sales can be, I had to learn quickly how to master mind over matter. There were several moments I wanted to quit, but something inside me kept me going. Call it grit, discipline, or luck, I learned that when I keep trying, eventually the stars align, and life will pay dividends for your efforts.
So what dreams can D2D sales help you accomplish?
#1 — Travel
If you’re anything like me, traveling and experiencing new cultures, peoples, and vistas is on your bucket list. Before doing sales, the extent of my travels could be summed up in a handful of cities and states in the U.S. Now, I have visited and lived in the following locations exclusively due to my sales experience:
1. California — Pleasanton, Tahoe, LA, Redwoods National Park
2. Utah — Salt Lake City, Provo
3. Ohio — Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, Toledo
4. Kentucky — Natural Bridge State Park
5. Massachusetts — Boston
6. New Hampshire — Mt. Washington
7. New York — Buffalo, Palmyra
8. Illinois — Nauvoo
9. Florida — Miami, Key West
10. Bahamas — Nassau
11. Mexico — Cancun
From California to New York, door-to-door sales has given me the chance to visit and live in locations I never would have visited. The majority of locations listed above have had all travel and housing expenses paid for which adds another layer of luxury. This includes my staying in an all-inclusive resort in Cancun, hanging out with the Amish in Ohio, and exploring the Bahamas on a cruise. If traveling and seeing the world excites you, D2D sales can be your gateway to beginning that dream. Soon, you too will agree with the statement, “Oh the Places You’ll Go… with D2D sales!”
#2 — Investment Opportunities
The only way to achieve financial freedom is to invest in assets that help put money back in your pocket. D2D sales provides a unique opportunity for individuals to amass large amounts of cash within a short amount of time. The extra cash saved can be used to invest in assets that generate cash flow and reduce your dependence upon a job to pay your bills. Eventually, the cash flow assets you own will pay for all your necessary expenses and leave you with a pretty nest egg to spend as you wish. This roadmap to financial peace and opportunity has already begun for me, and it’s all thanks to door-to-door sales. Many of the goals I have in life are dependent on the money I make and free time available. Because I have amassed cash with D2D sales, I have been able to find what inspires me and begin investing my resources early on. So no matter where you are in life, I believe there is no better way to amass cash quickly (and legally) than through door-to-door sales. #3 — Education & Development
I remember coming home after my first year selling and realizing that what I had been told my whole life about making money was WRONG! Up till that point, I believed that the only way to be successful in life was going to school, getting good grades, and graduating with a Masters degree. I’d heard the crazy stories of people like Bill Gates who never graduated college and became insanely wealthy, but he was just an outlier, right? It wasn’t until I met my first boss that I realized that Gates story wasn’t simply a rare anomaly. My boss had started college but quit to startup his pest control company. After a few years he sold it for $1,000,000! He then moved out of state and started another company which today has grown exponentially and backed by several strong investors. Although I strongly support learning, I now understand what my dad meant when he would say, “Don’t let school get in the way of a good education.” The experiences gained from selling has become my mini university for learning life lessons. Like a crash course, the short summers I spend knocking doors becomes a world classroom for learning valuable traits (i.e. discipline, determination, mental toughness, hard work, etc.). I know I am a better person today because of my time with D2D sales. The lessons learned never would have been experienced inside a school environment. This is yet another reason why selling D2D will help you accomplish your educational ambitions and character development for life.
Conclusion
